Welcome to our Club!
We do hope you will enjoy your time with us. By choosing to swim with Hoddesdon you have made an excellent choice. We are a highly competitive club and compete to the highest standards. Our aim to is to maximise all of our swimmers potential and to have fun whilst doing so. Listed below are some details that may help you to settle into the Club.
Joining the Club
Applicants are simply required to return a completed application form to the club. This is submitted to the Committee for consideration. Once accepted into the club, membership and training fees will be due within two weeks. The Membership Secretary, Kerrie Waters, (Tel. 01920 411291) can provide more details if required.
Training Fees
Training fees are paid quarterly on the first of January, April, June and October. The club memberships fees are set and paid annually with the January training fees. All members above the age of 9 years need to be A.S.A. registered. The registration fee is paid annually along with the January training and club membership fees.
Training
Our coaches are of the highest standard and constantly strive to bring out the best in all of our swimmers. The training is based mainly at the stunning new "state of the art" John Warner School pool, supplemented by additional sessions at award winning Haileybury School pool. Training times and venues are listed on the Training Schedule Page.
Galas
We swim in the Speedo, Herts Major, Peanuts and Diddy Leagues. These are the major swimming tournaments in the Herts and Essex area. We also compete in other Galas and Open Meetings throughout the year. A fixture list is produced annually and is displayed on the notice board. The team manager makes the selection of the teams competing in galas. The team list is posted on the Notice Board at John Warner, usually two weeks prior to any gala. If selected, you will be expected to swim for the club. Please tick your name if you can swim. If for any reason you cannot swim, please contact the Team Manager as soon as possible (Telephone Mark Charles 01992-422568).
Behaviour
We expect behaviour of the highest standard and have a very good reputation amongst other clubs. Whilst attending galas the swimmers are our ambassadors and are representing our club. At training sessions please keep the changing rooms tidy and turn off the showers when not in use. At Haileybury and John Warner, no unaccompanied children are allowed in the reception or allowed to run around outside the pool. We have a good relationship with the school - lets keep it that way please.
Club Championships
Our Club Championships are held in October/November with the Novice Club Championships held late November. The Novice Championships are for those swimmers who did not obtain a top three position in the Club Championships. Please note; eligibility to the Novice Club Championships is by participation in the main Club Championships.
The Committee
The Committee is made up of parents of swimmers, the club coach and the team captains. All the parents give their time freely to the club. We are always looking for parent participation in helping the club to run smoothly – so look out! An AGM is held in November to elect the members of the Committee. Nominations for the Committee are to be received by the end of October on the prescribed form. Ask the Club Secretary, Sandra Hagley-King (01992 460978) for details.
Social Events
We have various social events throughout the year, such as Quiz Nights, BBQ, and roller-skating afternoons, to raise funds for the club.

Club costumes, hats, tracksuits, sweatshirts, goggles etc. can be purchased from our Club Shop. Our Club Buyers, Karen Johnson and Karen Cutts can order items direct from the Swim Shop at special rates. The Shop is at Haileybury on a Wednesday from 18:30 to 20:30.
