21st October 2009

Dear Member,

Hoddesdon Swimming Club has continued to develop and grow. To enable the club to continue to progress we need to restructure and realign our squads, therefore, it gives us great pleasure to announce the following changes that will happen over the next few months:

 Phase I: Implementation Date: 1st November, 2009

    • New Squads; TRAINING, WHITE, BLUE, RED, COUNTY SILVER, COUNTY GOLD, H.E.L.T.A., CLUB SQUAD FITNESS, CLUB SQUAD MASTERS, SPECIAL ABILITIES
    • New Squad Criteria (in line with the British Swimming National Plan for Teaching Swimming NPTS and Long Term Athlete Development LTAD)
    • New Training Times
  • Phase II: Implementation Date: 3rd January, 2010
    • Finalise movements between squads (making sure everyone is happy)
    • New Fees
  • To find out more log onto our website www.hoddesdonsc.co.uk where you will find the following documents:

Letter to all members (this letter)

  • New Squad Criteria
  • Training Schedule
  • Water Time Plan
  • Because we felt the information was confidential we have not put the full squads on the website, to find out which squad you are in, you will need to either:

Look on the notice board at John Warner Sports Centre (list by alphabetical order) or,

  • The need for the Restructure Project was identified in August 2009, and since then the coaches have been working hard trying to get it right, and part of that process has been assessing the swimmers and speaking to some of you. We have tried to the best of our ability to put you into the correct squad. However, if you have any questions or problems, nothing is set in stone at this point. In fact, we are going to continue to monitor and assess you during November and December, with the hope that by the New Year everyone will be in the correct squad and be happy. Therefore, if you have been moved up a squad, you could in fact be moved down if you are seen to be not coping with the training, and on the other hand if you are still in a squad and you perform above the expectations of that squad, you could be moved up before the New Year. The aim is to get you into the correct squad for your ability and commitment levels so that you have the best opportunity to fulfil your potential in the sport of swimming.

AGM + Parents Meeting – Thursday 12th November 2009

  • 8pm John Warner Sports Centre
  • Please make a note in your diary of our AGM, we will be making a short presentation about the training programme and where we want to take the club in the next few years. There will also be a general questions and answers session at the end. If you have any personal questions please don’t bottle them up for the AGM, please come and speak to either Janet or Michael and we will try to sort out any issues you have between us and before they become a problem.

Yours faithfully,

 Janet   Michael
