Round 3 Gala Report
The 3rd round of the Junior Swimming League was held on Sunday the 28th June 2009. The team swam well but were unable to improve on their second round finish of 5th place. There were individual 1st places for: Shona Costello in the girls 11/U 50m Backstroke, Tomas Stevens in the boy’s 11/U 50m Backstroke and in the boy’s 12/U 50m Backstroke and Hayley Warrington in the girls 12/U 50m Breastroke. Six individual 2nd places went to: Hayley Warrington, Philip Wistow,Tomas Stevens, Ben Scott, Georgina Fisher and Roya Keswick and six individual 3rd places went to: Phoebe Spicer (2), Molly Muzzlewhite, Kane Hagley-King, Ben Warrington and Shona Costello, There were 2 new club records set in the boy’s 12/U 4x1 Medley Relay and in the mixed 8x1 Freestyle Relay Squadron event. Individual new personal best times were set by: Phoebe Spicer (2), Shona Costello, Hayley Warrington, Amy Millard, Sydney Crouch, Jess Dunford and Kane Hagley-King. Well done to everybody who has taken part throughout the series, your efforts and enthusiasm are really appreciated and even though the club does not always win its important that you never stop trying.
Results of Round 3 are as follows: !st Griffins 193.5 points, 2nd Halstead 177 points, 3rd Braintree 173.5 points, 4th Anaconda 163 points, 5th Hoddesdon 154 points and 6th Runnymede 148 points.
Round 2 Gala Report
The 2nd round of the Junior Swimming League was held at the new swimming centre at Braintree on Sunday 10th May. The draw for this round was tough for Hoddesdon with some very strong opposition coming from the Barnet, Romford and Kingston teams. Hoddesdon swimmers performed well but were not strong enough to mount a consistently serious challenge for a top placing on the night. However, there were some notable individual results with 1st places for Tomas Stevens in the boys 11/U 50m Backstroke, 11/U 50m Butterfly with a new P.B. and 12/U 50m Backstroke. Hayley Warrington also had 1st places in the girls 12/U 50m Butterfly in a new personal best time, and 1st place in the 12/U 50m Breastroke.There were 3rd places for Philip Wistow in the boys 9 years 25m Breastroke, Kane Hagley-King in the boys 12/U 50m freestyle and Luke Broughal in the boys 12/U 50m Breastroke. Georgina Fisher also came 3rd in the girls 10 years 50m Butterfly event. New personal best times were set by: Scott King in the 10 years 50m Breastroke, Kane Hagley-King in the 12/U 50m Freestyle and Katherine Wolfe in the 10 years 50m Backstroke.
Well done to all members of the team. Girl swimmer of the gala went to Hayley Warrington and Boy swimmer of the gala went to Tomas Stevens.
Results: 1st place Barnet 228 points, 2nd place Romford 213 points, 3rd place Kingston 209 points, 4th place Halstead 141 points, 5th place Hoddesdon 125 points and 6th place Braintree 95 points
Round I Gala Report
The first round gala of the 2009 season was held at Thurrock on Sunday 26th April. This was the second gala to be held during a busy weekend for the club and many of the Hoddesdon swimmers competing had already been involved in a Peanuts League gala the day before. Never the less the club put up a good show and although they came in 6th position there were only five points seperating 4th, 5th and 6th places.There were some fine performances from individual swimmers resulting in three 1st places, one second place and four 3rd places.There were two new club records set by the girls relay teams and ten new individual personal best times were recorded.
The gala statistics are as follows: Individual 1st places were achieved by Tomas Stevens (2) and Hayley Warrington (1). Georgina Fisher recorded the only 2nd place, whilst Hayley Warrington, Philip Wistow, Shona Costello and Roya Keswick recorded 3rd placings.
The girls 12 years and under 4x1 Medley relay team consisting of Sydney Crouch, Hayley Warrington, Amy Riddick and Shona Costello came 3rd and set a new club record for the event. The girls 11 years and under 4x1 Freestyle relay team consisting of Roya Keswick, Georgina Fisher, Kaitlyn Walsh and Shona Costello also set a new club record for the event. In the boy’s 9 year 4x1 Medley relay the team consisting of Ben Warrington, Philip Wistow, Ben Scott and George Allen swam well to record 3rd place.
New individual personal times were set by: Roya Keswick, Charlie Stevens, Cerys Edwards, Katherine Wolfe, Kane Hagley-King, Brooke Morris, Kaitlyn Walsh, Phoebe Spicer and Georgina Fisher. Well done to all the above keep up the good work.
Swimmer of gala awards went to: Shona Costello and Philip Wistow.
Although the club did not achieve a higher position on this occasion there will be other galas and no doubt given a different set of circustances the outcome will be different. The team Manager, Head coach and supporting staff were pleased with your efforts on the night so keep up the good work.
